Mayfly action – who’d have thunk it!
A June day with John Wastle, looking for mayfly feeders. The early cloud quickly burned away to give us a scorcher! Then a day beginning of August. Still a few mayfly about and fish looking for them. However, most of the fish were lying deep in Gateside, due to the previous week’s heatwave.
A blustery, cool day, with Martin Wigglesworth. Very little mayfly to be seen.
A day on the mayfly with Mark Hirst. Good spinner action, p.m.
A day on dries with Jimmy. Mayfly activity starting to get going. Fish quite cooperative. Wind direction less so. Top fly was the ‘Found Link’.
A day with Bob Allan. Mayfly starting to trickle off. Loads of alders, sedges and other stuff – and clouds of gnats and hawthorns.
