Not long before completion of the works, last weekend, high water once again washed away the scaffolding structure deflecting water from the far end of the weir. The team were busy rebuilding it… again.
Not long before completion of the works, last weekend, high water once again washed away the scaffolding structure deflecting water from the far end of the weir. The team were busy rebuilding it… again.
The team electrofishing the river below the weir were successful in catching and transferring one salmon, a few sea trout, several finnock, and a good-sized brownie to safe passage above the weir.
A look-in to see how the new fish-pass works are progressing. Managed a couple of grab shots of a goldcrest – not easy!

Work on the new Fish-Pass is now complete. The temporary access roadway across the river has been removed. The river was in spate, due to a combination of snow-melt and rain.
Work being done to replace the old, and seemingly near-useless, fish-pass on the River Almond at Cramond.
