This turned out to be another relatively small outing of 9 anglers, which considering the venue’s proximity to Edinburgh seemed rather surprising. It was a mild evening with a light north wind, but the water was quite warm and very low. A bright sky for most of the evening didn’t help matters for top of the water fishing.
Despite this Bob Whyte had a good evening for a total of 6 fish, mainly using his favoured tactics of a slowly retrieved Cats whisker on an intermediate, but with a Kate McLaren responsible for half of his basket. The Road Shore was again a happy hunting ground for him. Trevor Gibson roved about a bit more and managed 5 fish, using snatchers on a midge tip. John Levy and John Miller brought in the best boat with 4 each, again from the Road Shore, using a mixture of nymphs and traditionals, retrieved slowly on a floater.
The total catch was 25 fish, 19 of which were returned.
