These 2 albums consists of selected photos of rainbow trout to help identify fish that are relatively recently stocked, and those that have been in the water for several months and/or over the winter period. This album features RESIDENTS AND OVERWINTERED fish. Identifying features include:
- Sharp, pointed edges to fins, particularly the tail and pectoral fins. (The dorsal is nearly always rounded to some extent in both stockies and resident rainbows.)
- Slim body condition (in a Rusky fish)
- Scales in good condition with no patches of displacement (this can happen during play/landing, or be the result of a cormorant encounter, but tends to be a line in both cases)
- No scuffing or reddening on the front edge of the mouth
