Derek Kilgour reporting…
The weather when we set off was looking promising: overcast, temperatures around the low teens, and a light breeze from the north-east to east direction. I was fishing with Jimmy McBride, and we headed across to Burnhouse Bay, taking a few drifts in towards the shore. Jimmy set up on dries and I set up on a floater with Dial Bachs and cormorants. I was off to a flyer, with two keepable browns to the net on a black Diawl Bach. Jimmy was having a few fresh-air shots to the dries. We then moved to Binns Bay, where again we fished short drifts into the shoreline. There were a couple of fish moving close in to the weed beds, and Jimmy picked up a rainbow or two on his dries.
t was then a move up the loch, with the wind strengthening, and we had some drifts along the shore leading up to 30 minute bay, the wind now more from the south-east. Again, Jimmy picked-off a fish or two on dries, close-in to the shore. A look in Carron Bay revealed nothing. We headed for the last couple of hours to the willows by the dam area, and again fished short drifts onto the shore. By this time, the wind couldn’t make up its mind, with spells of flat calm and the breeze coming from all directions. We both picked up a few fish here on a mixture of dries, Diawl Bachs and cormorants. Jimmy and I ended up with 14 to the boat.
Ramsey Zenati and boat partner had 3 fish to the boat, Peter Fonda and Allan Brown had 5, and Dougie Skedd and Davie Tyrie had 11.
The clubs 8 rods had a total of 33 fish for a rod average of 4.1.
