Loch Watten

Ron Sharp and I used to have a week on Watten throughout much of the 1980s.  Four of us fished it in 2007, my first visit since 1994.  It was good to be back.

We enjoyed it so much, we were back in 2008.  This time there were 6 of us, as we were joined by a couple of good lads from down south, Rob and Alec.

The last row were all shot within a couple of hours of each other, on the last evening of the trip.  Caithness truly is big-sky country!

I had never seen divers on the loch throughout the 80s and 90s, but there were several black-throateds on the loch in 2007, and they were joined by at least one red-throated in 2008.  I managed a shot of the red-throated (albeit from a bit of a distance!), which is shown centre above.
