Still Life

I was tempted into putting this in -- I've done a bit of eBaying for friends over the past couple of years.  The most common items I am given are rods and reels (go figure!).  Rods are dire to present well.  How do you take a good photograph of a thing 6 feet long by half an inch wide?

Reels, though, are another matter, and I enjoy being given a good-looking new or vintage reel to put up for auction.  Here are a few that have passed through my hands.  Several date back to the 1950s/60s and some a long way before that.  Note the bone handles on 3 of them.
